Now that you have your Virtual Machine working let´s us install a traditional Bioinformatics package and experience what most biologists confront when installing bioinformatics software.

First of all download the latest release of EMBOSS from the EMBOSS homepage:

www.emboss.org  go to Download and follow the instructions. You will recognise the standard steps of  unzipping, untar, compile an installation :-)

After installing some additional formatting and fixing is needed but we will take a look at that later on.

Test your newly installed EMBOSS package by typing

$wossname

On a terminal.
